Dear diary, my name is Christine Daaé, I was born in a small market-town near Uppsala, in Sweden. I was a very happy child and loved my father and my mother a lot. I was only 12 years old when my mother died, I was left alone with my dad and it made me become very close to him. My father, Mr Daaé made a living from farming and music, he was known widely for his skills when playing the violin. After my mother’s death we sold our lands and decided to live exclusively from music, we went from town to town and I got musical education.

One day of summer, a man called Raoul caught my scarf after it flew away when I was next to the sea. After giving it back to me we became really good friends, my father even taught him how to play the violin and he became really good. I remember vividly a Scandinavian tale my father once told us, he said that no one could achieve perfection at playing an instrument before hearing “The Angel of Music”, someone who you couldn’t see, only hear.

Some years after meeting Raoul my father died, but I will never forget him or the lessons he taught me. I now look forward to meet… actually hear “the Angel of Music”
